The Kho Kho World Cup 2025 titles were won by the Indian men’s and women’s teams on Sunday in New Delhi, marking an important milestone. The women’s team began the momentous event by winning the first World Cup, defeating Nepal handily in the championship game. The men’s team, led by Pratik Waikar, then added to the celebrations by defeating Nepal 54-36 in their final at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, giving India an incredible double victory.
How India’s warriors defeated Nepal in a Fierce Fight
Ramji Kashyap’s spectacular skydive to start the competition led to Nepal’s Suraj Pujara being eliminated. After that, Suyash Gargate was able to tag Bharat Sahu, giving India a strong start and ten points in the first four minutes. The squad had a solid start in Turn 1 because to the Men in Blue’s heavy reliance on sky dives, which prevented their opponents from making a Dream Run. India had a perfect start to the match as the score was 26-0 in their favour at the end of the turn.
Although Nepal found it difficult to match Team India’s performance in Turn 2, they were still able to stop the Indian team from making a single Dream Run. Despite frequent touches from players like Janak Chand and Suraj Pujara, the team maintained a 26-18 lead going into the second half of the game because to the contributions of Aditya Ganpule and skipper Pratik Waikar.
In Turn 3, India showed off their skills once again, remaining confident the entire time. With the help of Ramji Kashyap, another outstanding player from the competition, captain Pratik Waikar demonstrated his skill on the mat by performing multiple sky dives. As the play and tournament came to a close, the team’s combined efforts increased the score to 54-18 thanks to an outstanding performance from Aditya Ganpule.
Nepal made a concerted attempt to rally against Team India in Turn 4. But the defensive team, led once more by Sachin Bhargo, also called Chingari, and Pratik Waikar, proved to be strong. With a final score of 54-36, Team India earned a well-earned victory thanks to the outstanding performances of Mehul and Suman Barman.
The team had an absolutely incredible journey to the championship. With resounding wins over Brazil, Peru, and Bhutan in the group rounds, India demonstrated their supremacy throughout the competition. They maintained their momentum into the knockout stages, defeating a strong South African squad in the semifinals and outperforming Bangladesh in the quarterfinals.
