Skoda is getting ready to replace its mid-size SUV, the Kushaq, with a facelifted model that was recently spotted testing on Indian roads. First launched in 2021, the Kushaq entered a competitive segment where rivals like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos have already seen significant facelifts. Now, Skoda seems ready to revamp its SUV offering to stay relevant in the fast-evolving market.
The latest spy shots hint at a number of visual changes on the outside. The refreshed Kushaq appears to receive revised headlights and fog lamps positioned slightly lower than the outgoing version. Its grille design has been tweaked, showcasing slimmer vertical slats, while the hidden upper portion suggests the possible inclusion of a connected DRL setup, resembling the new-generation Skoda Kodiaq’s lighting signature. The front air dam also seems to adopt a more squared-off look compared to the current version.
Along the sides, the test mule doesn’t reveal many changes, aside from newly designed blacked-out alloy wheels. However, it’s the rear of the SUV that signals a clearer departure from the present model. The slimmer taillamps on the Kushaq facelift appear to be connected by a noticeable strip that runs across the tailgate and is probably an LED light bar. While the rear bumper remains under heavy camouflage, minor updates in its design are expected.
Though interior details haven’t surfaced yet, the updated Kushaq is anticipated to come with new trim accents, refreshed colour schemes, and an expanded list of features. One of the most notable additions will be a Level 2 ADAS system, bringing the Kushaq in line with competitors offering advanced driver assistance technologies.
The 1.0-liter TSI and 1.5-liter TSI turbo-petrol engines and current gearbox options will remain under the hood of the facelifted Kushaq. However, Skoda is gearing up to replace the 6-speed automatic gearbox on the 1.0-litre variant with a new 8-speed torque converter unit sourced from AISIN. While this upgrade promises improved efficiency and future emission compliance, it won’t be available immediately at launch and is slated for introduction in 2026.
