With an outstanding opening weekend and trajectory, the Tamil film Garudan has become Kollywood’s second biggest hit of the year. During its debut weekend at the Indian box office, the action thriller made approximately Rs. 17.25 crore; almost all of those earnings came from Tamil Nadu, the film’s native state, where it brought in Rs. 16 crore.

With a first-day revenue of about Rs. 4 crore in Tamil Nadu on Friday, Garudan is the fourth-highest first-day collection of a Tamil film of the year, after Captain Miller, Aranmanai 4, and Ghilli (re-release). It increased by 30% on Saturday, which is unusual for films that had a strong South Indian premiere. With revenue almost twice as high as it did on the first day—nearly Rs. 7 crore—the movie saw yet another enormous surge on Sunday. Numbers for the first weekend are the third highest of the year, slightly below Captain Miller’s Rs. 17 crore mark.

The box office collections of Garduan at the Indian box office are as follows:

Friday – Rs. 4.25 crore
Saturday – Rs. 5.65 crore
Sunday – Rs. 7.35 crore

Total – Rs. 17.25 crore

The film’s good weekend trajectory, which indicates a positive reception, is a significant advantage. The movie has a strong enough beginning to be a hit, and even a common tendency will carry it through. Nevertheless, the movie’s Monday landing place will provide some indication of its potential closing location. Nonetheless, there is a very good probability that the trend will continue in the long run when it is that powerful over the weekend.
