When Google CEO Sundar Pichai officially revealed the company’s intention to replace Google Assistant with Gemini on smartwatches, it was only a matter of time before Samsung followed suit. That moment has now arrived, as the South Korean tech giant has confirmed that Gemini will soon be integrated into its Galaxy Watch series, marking a major shift in the smartwatch experience. But the rollout doesn’t stop there-Gemini will also be made accessible through the upcoming Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro wireless earbuds.

Although Samsung has yet to reveal a specific launch date, it’s likely that the arrival of Gemini will coincide with the rollout of the One UI 8 Watch software update. While that update is still under development, the company has stated that users can expect it “in the coming months”. This suggests the more capable Gemini AI will eventually replace the Google Assistant in Galaxy wearables.

It’s important to note that Gemini won’t run directly on the earbuds themselves. Rather, Gemini will be more easily accessible to Galaxy Buds 3 users via their connected smartphones, tablets, or smartwatches thanks to Samsung. This will be achieved using intuitive methods like voice commands and pinch-and-hold gestures.

Once the update becomes available, users will be able to ask Gemini to perform everyday tasks such as setting reminders, checking the weather, or summarizing emails. This hands-free functionality aims to elevate the utility of Galaxy wearables-especially when users are exercising or multitasking.

Although Samsung hasn’t detailed the full list of supported devices, it did specify the Galaxy Buds 3 series by name, possibly suggesting that earlier generations of earbuds may not receive the same level of integration. More information is expected closer to launch. Although information on a new version of the Buds lineup is still unknown, the Galaxy Watch 8 series is expected to make its appearance later this summer.
