Xiaomi declared earlier this year that HyperOS will take the place of MIUI beginning with the Xiaomi 14 Series. According to the business, software upgrades will be used to switch a limited number of current devices from MIUI to HyperOS.

HyperOS updates are currently being sent to the POCO F5 over the air (OTA). It is among the first devices to be upgraded with the latest version of Xiaomi’s in-house operating system. POCO is providing this update to all users worldwide. The business also stated that HyperOS updates for additional devices that fit will be released shortly.

On the POCO F5, HyperOS arrives

HyperOS can now be used by POCO F5 users to upgrade their devices. The OTA update that would replace MIUI has begun to be released by the business. Users don’t need a computer or to perform a factory reset in order to upgrade their phone in nature.

By navigating to Settings > About Phone > Software Info > Updates, users can verify if they have the update. Android 14 serves as the foundation for the POCO F5’s HyperOS upgrade.

According to Xiaomi, HyperOS is an enhancement over MIUI in a number of areas. It enables the business to more effectively incorporate its devices into its ecosystem. Xiaomi intends to utilize HyperOS in all of its products, including tablets and Internet of Things devices, so the new operating system won’t just be available for smartphones.

Regarding smartphones, HyperOS claims that resource management has been enhanced. Additionally, the business has integrated AI models into its software to adjust it based on the user’s usage habits. It’s unclear, though, if every gadget will get every one of these functions.

With MIUI 14, which is based on Android 13, the POCO F5 was introduced in India in May 2023. Three years of security fixes and two Android updates are anticipated for the gadget. The POCO F5’s first significant update is the most recent version of HyperOS. The manufacturer hasn’t, however, formally disclosed the device’s precise update schedule.

In addition to the POCO F5, a number of additional 2022–2023 devices, including the POCO X6, POCO F4, and POCO F3, are excellent candidates to get the HyperOS update. Xiaomi and POCO have not yet made available an official list of compatible smartphones, yet.
