In response to growing consumer demand, Mother Dairy plans to expand its business by investing Rs 650 crore to establish two new units for the processing of fruits and vegetables in addition to milk.

Leading milk provider in Delhi-NCR Mother Dairy plans to invest an additional Rs 100 crore to increase the capacity of its current operations.

“We have earmarked a capital expenditure (capex) outlay of over Rs 750 crore to enhance our dairy and F&V (fruits and vegetables) processing capacities across key locations as part of our endeavour to expand our distribution and reach to our consumers,” Manish Bandlish, MD of Mother Dairy Fruits and Vegetables Pvt Ltd, told PTI.

With an approximate use of Rs 525 crore, Mother Dairy plans to build a large dairy plant in Nagpur, Maharashtra, he said.

The 600,000 liters of milk that the greenfield plant can process in a day can be increased to one million liters.

The markets in the central and southern areas will be supplied by this new factory.

“We also plan to commission a new fruit processing plant in Karnataka with an investment of over Rs 125 crore under our Safal brand,” Bandlish stated.

It will take roughly two years to complete these two plants.

“In addition to these new greenfield plants, we are also strengthening our capacities in our existing facilities with an outlay of around Rs 100 crore,” Bandlish stated.

Currently, Mother Dairy owns nine dairy processing facilities with a combined daily milk processing capacity of about 5 million liters.

Additionally, it processes at facilities owned by third parties.

The company owns four plants for horticulture (fruits and vegetables), and it uses 15 connected plants to create edible oils.

In the fiscal year 2022–2023, Mother Dairy’s revenue was approximately Rs 14,500 crore.

Regarding the anticipated turnover for this fiscal year, Bandlish stated that “the company is likely to exit 2023-24 with a moderate growth rate of around 7-8 per cent in volume terms, despite a challenging year amid subdued summer season last year and deflation in the edible oil sector.”

In 1974, Mother Dairy was put into service. As of right present, the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) owns all of its subsidiaries.

Mother Dairy was founded as a result of “Operation Flood,” the largest dairy development endeavor in history, which was started to ensure that India would have a supply of enough milk.

Top dairy company in India, Mother Dairy produces, distributes, and sells milk and milk products such as ice cream, paneer, ghee, and cultured products under the ‘Mother Dairy’ brand.

The company’s portfolio is varied, featuring edible oils under the ‘Dhara’ brand, fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen snacks and vegetables, unpolished pulses, pulps and concentrates, etc. under the ‘Safal’ brand.

There are hundreds of milk booths and Safal retail stores in Delhi-NCR.

In Delhi-NCR, Mother Dairy sells around 35 lakh gallons of fresh milk (pouched and token milk) per day.
