At the 2025 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Lake Como, Italy, BMW once again captivated car fans with the introduction of the breathtaking Concept Speedtop. Following the success of last year’s Skytop—an elegant two-seat convertible that made it to limited production—BMW has brought another showstopper to the historic event. The Concept Speedtop takes inspiration from both the Skytop and Concept Touring Coupe, blending design elements from both into a luxurious performance wagon.
With its unique V-shaped shark nose, illuminated kidney grille, and eye-catching light fixtures, the Concept Speedtop is identical to the Skytop in terms of architecture and front-end appearance. Unlike its predecessors, this concept is more utilitarian, offering increased cargo capacity while maintaining an air of refined elegance.
Its roof is painted in a gradient finish, shifting from Floating Sunstone Maroon at the front to Floating Sundown Silver at the rear. A sleek central “spline” design flows seamlessly from the hood, over the roof, and down to the rear spoiler. Completing the exterior are bespoke 14-spoke two-tone alloy wheels designed specifically for this model.
Inside, the Speedtop boasts a two-tone leather cabin dressed in Sundown Maroon and Moonstone White. Design continuity is emphasized with the use of Floating Sunstone Maroon accents and a light beam projection of the exterior’s “spline” onto the headliner. Even the trunk gets a lavish touch, featuring custom leather-lined compartments and tailor-made Schedoni luggage designed to fit perfectly within the split cargo area.
Performance-wise, BMW remains tight-lipped, but confirms the Speedtop is powered by its most potent V8 engine to date. It’s probably the brand’s 4.4-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which produces 617 horsepower and is also included in the Skytop.
The best part? The Speedtop isn’t just a concept for the display floor. BMW will produce 70 units of this extraordinary machine, though it won’t be sold in the U.S. market. Pricing details remain undisclosed, but it’s expected to command a premium, appealing only to serious collectors.
BMW’s Senior Vice President of Brand and Product Management, Bernd Körber, highlighted the enthusiasm generated by last year’s Skytop and confirmed the Speedtop’s limited run, stating it’s now available for order. In keeping with BMW’s history of drawing attention at Villa d’Este, the Concept Speedtop made its official presentation this past weekend.
