Aim of hiring 375,000 people in US announced by McDonald for this summer. This significant workforce expansion, announced on Monday, marks one of the largest recruitment drives by the global fast-food giant in recent years. The hiring effort aligns with McDonald’s broader strategy to boost operational capacity and customer service, especially during the busy summer season.

This move is also part of McDonald’s long-term vision to strengthen its U.S. market presence, as the company intends to open around 900 additional restaurant locations nationwide by the year 2027. At a McDonald’s restaurant close to Columbus, Ohio, Joe Erlinger, President of McDonald’s USA, explained the news to U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer. The leadership emphasized how this hiring surge supports both business growth and job creation in local communities.

The announcement arrives at a time when the Trump administration has been encouraging corporations to increase domestic investments. According to recent updates from the White House, over $5 trillion in new investments have been pledged within Trump’s initial 100 days in office. Companies like Nvidia, SoftBank, and Oracle have made similar guarantees, and Apple’s ambitious $500 billion plan for U.S. manufacturing stands out among them.

Despite these developments, McDonald’s is facing challenges. The firm recently revealed that its quarterly sales in the United States have dropped significantly, the most since the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Specifically, same-store sales in the U.S. fell by 3.6% in the last quarter, the worst three-month period since Q2 2020, when figures had declined by 8.7%. Analysts had expected a milder 1.7% dip.

During a call with investors, McDonald’s executives attributed the decline to a noticeable reduction in foot traffic, particularly among middle- and low-income consumers. The chain noted a drop in morning visits, with many customers choosing to skip breakfast or eat at home as a cost-saving measure.

By 2027, McDonald’s, which now has more than 38,000 stores in more than 100 countries, hopes to have 50,000 sites worldwide.
