The winners of Apple’s 2023 Apple Design Awards were announced this week at the company’s yearly Worldwide Developers Conference. The tech giant honours 12 games and apps each year in each of the following six categories: Innovation, Inclusivity, Delight and Fun, Interaction, Social Impact, Visuals and Graphics. The 36 finalists were narrowed down to the winners.

The Brooklyn-based software Universe, a website builder that enables users to select a domain and launch a business in minutes, won the Inclusivity category. Stitch, a game that allows users to visually embroider various designs, was created by Lykke Studio, a company based in Thailand.

Flighty, an application that offers users thorough flight maps, airport navigation, and delay projections, took home the prize in the Interaction category. Railbound is the winning video game in this category. Railbound is a puzzle video game about two dogs travelling the world by train that was created by Polish company Afterburn.

“Apps and games are essential to the way we work, play, and live. Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, Susan Prescott, stated in a press release that the company “loves to recognise outstanding developers whose apps reflect incredible creativity and design excellence.” The winners of the 2018 Apple Design Awards deserve to be recognised for their innovative app experiences and engaging gameplay, which have empowered and entertained users all across the world.
