Apple invests millions of dollars every day in AI, devoting significant resources to the field. The organization has hired staff from Google, OpenAI, and other well-known AI studios to collaborate on the development of numerous AI models across multiple teams.

Apple has been largely silent on the AI front while Google and Microsoft are involved in a fierce AI battle with its Bard AI and Bing AI, along with a variety of other AI tools. But according to recent sources, Apple is investing heavily in AI and will probably soon release a number of AI products.

According to a claim that was first published in The Information, Apple is investing millions of dollars every day in artificial intelligence. A number of teams inside the organization are currently developing various AI models.

John Giannandrea, Apple’s head of AI, is in charge of one of these groups called “Foundational Models,” which focuses on conversational AI. Giannandrea joined the corporation in 2018 to improve Siri’s skills. Around 16 people make up this group, including former Google engineers.

Several additional Apple teams, in addition to the conversational AI team, are also working on AI-related projects. Among these initiatives are the creation of an image generating model, multimodal AI, a chatbot meant to communicate with AppleCare clients, and a second chatbot created to simplify difficult tasks while using Siri.

Insiders have also stated that Apple’s Ajax GPT, the company’s most sophisticated Large Language Model (LLM), has been trained on an incredible “200 billion parameters” and is said to be more powerful than OpenAI’s LLM GPT-3.5, which served as the basis for the well-known chatbot ChatGPT.

Early in the year, rumors appeared that Apple was actively seeking candidates with experience in the field of generative artificial intelligence. The company even advertised roles like Multimodal Generative Modeling Research Engineer and Visual Generative Modeling Research Engineer on its US career page.

Although Apple hasn’t formally acknowledged these breakthroughs, there were stories in March that suggested the corporation was testing generative AI technologies.

Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, showed enthusiasm for AI on his visit to India this year to open the nation’s first Apple Store. He emphasized the importance of AI in many Apple products by mentioning functions like fall detection and ECG in the Apple Watch that use AI. Apple’s commitment to staying at the forefront of artificial intelligence was reaffirmed by Cook.

In conclusion, it looks like Apple is investing a lot in AI and has a number of AI initiatives in the works as it tries to remain competitive in the rapidly changing tech industry.
