In a major victory for Indian cinema, Shah Rukh Khan’s popular action movie “Jawan” has been nominated for the esteemed ASTRA Awards 2024 (hosted by The Hollywood Creative Alliance) in the Best International Feature category. The nominees were revealed on Thursday and showcase a wide range of international film accomplishments. Jawan is the only Indian nominee in this category, making him stand out.

“Jawan” won over hearts all over the world when it was released on September 7 because to its compelling story and outstanding performances. The picture, which was directed by Atlee and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, the production company owned by Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan, has now made a reputation for itself against prestigious competitors such as “Barbie,” “Oppenheimer,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “John Wick,” and “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.”

With 15 and 14 nominations, respectively, “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” are leading the field, ensuring a close matchup at the ASTRA Awards in 2024. Notable for its unprecedented popularity, Taylor Swift’s documentary “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” is also vying for Best Documentary Feature.

The movie “Maestro” starring Bradley Cooper about American conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein received seven nominations, demonstrating the calibre of work in this year’s Oscars.

The Hollywood Creative Alliance changed its name to The ASTRA Awards in 2023 after going by several names, including the Los Angeles Online Film Critics Society and the Hollywood Critics Association. The winners will be revealed at the lavish ceremony in Los Angeles on February 26, 2024.

“Jawan,” a grand cinematic production with Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, and Deepika Padukone in a cameo, has already shown its strength at the box office, shattering previous records and becoming the third-fastest-grossing Hindi film ever made. The success of the movie is a result of the actors and crew working together and Red Chillies Entertainment’s backing.
