On June 14, 2024, Vijay Sethupathi’s 50th film, Maharaja, which has him in the lead role, is scheduled to open in theatres. Maharaja, written and directed by Nithilan Saminathan of Kurangu Bommai (2017) fame, centres on a barber who, following a break-in, becomes vengeful. He informs the police that his “Lakshmi” has been abducted, but they are unsure if it’s a person or an object.

The story is further developed in the recently released Maharaja trailer (see above), in which Vijay Sethupathi tells the police that his daughter will be unhappy if she returns from camp and discovers that ‘Lakshmi’ is missing. Additionally, Vijay Sethupathi is shown guiding the police to a minor crime nexus and bribing them in lakhs.

Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, Natty Natraj, Bharathiraja, Abhirami, Singampuli, Aruldoss, Munishkanth, Vinoth Sagar, Boys Manikandan, Kalki, and Sachana Namidass are among the other actors who appear in Maharaja. Anl Arasu is responsible for stunts, Philomin Raj is in charge of editing, B. Ajaneesh Loknath is in charge of music, Dinesh Purushothaman is in charge of cinematography, and Passion Studios is producing Maharaja.
