After the European Union approved laws requiring all mobile phones, tablets, and other gadgets sold in the bloc to be fitted with a USB-C connector by the end of 2024, Apple was forced to make the first such update to the charging ports of its flagship lineup in 11 years. For iPads and Macs, the Cupertino-based tech titan had already switched to USB-C.
The iPhone 15 range, according to a recent revelation from Macrumors, may not be compatible with all USB-C power adapters, as several users have noted on Reddit and the Macrumors forums. Users reported that while the iPhone 15 will occasionally charge the power bank instead of the iPhone 15, this was not always the case.
According to the article, the problem can be caused by the iPhone 15 series’ ability to reverse charge. With the use of a USB-C connection, the iPhone 15 series can reverse charge smaller Apple gadgets like the Apple Watch or Apple AirPods.
Several power banks, notably the Anker PowerCore Slim 10K PD, have had issues charging the iPhone 15 series. The only USB-A port could be used to charge the iPhone 15 using the power bank, according to Anker, who was informed by a customer about the problem.
According to a statement from Anker cited by Macrumors, “It seems that because the iPhone 15 series supports reverse charging, the charging of the Anker PowerCore Slim 10k PD via the USB C connector may be impacted, a problem for which there is currently no fix. Using a USB A port is the only method for charging your iPhone.
