When Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu, the outgoing Miss Universe 2021, took her final bow before announcing R’Bonney Gabriel of the United States as the new Miss Universe, she appeared to be overcome with emotion. Ms. Sandhu made a valiant effort to contain her tears as she made her final walk across the platform as Miss Universe. The pageant contestants warmly applauded the diva as she arrived on the great stage wearing a gorgeous black gown. Sushmita Sen’s 1994 pageant victory was digitally printed on the back of the unique gown she wore.
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she waved to the audience, folded her hands in Namaste, and kissed the air. Ms. Sandhu also looked to stumble a bit while walking, but she quickly regained her equilibrium.
The Miss Universe official account shared a video of the touching moment on Twitter. The description reads, “Hold back tears as @HarnaazKaur enters the stage one last time as Miss Universe!”
A emotional tribute for Harnaaz Sandhu was previously posted on Instagram by Chakrapong Anne Chakrajutathib, the founder of the Miss Universe Organization. “Today we revealed the New Universe Crown ‘Force for Good,’ and tomorrow is your last day of your reign, my sis Harnaaz Sandhu,” she tweeted with a photo of Ms. Sandhu. From the bottom of my heart, I love you. Even though you are just 22 years old, you already possess great strength, independence, self-assurance, and grace. My dear, you made history for the entire globe, and we will never forget you.
