A mouthful away from your best hair day.

Nutritionists have outlined the best ways to eat your way to healthier hair, since following a healthy diet can help with everything from dry hair to shedding.

But according to registered dietitian Amanda Sauceda, feeding your body well overall is just as vital as eating the correct foods, as Shape reported.

“Make sure your body is getting enough calories,” she stated, referring to the recommended daily intake of 2,000 calories. “Make sure your body gets the essential calories it needs for hormone production and hair growth. Your body needs energy for these processes.”

Regarding the specific meals that promote healthy hair, Sauceda and other specialists stated that wild salmon was the greatest option because of its high-quality protein content.

In addition to protein, salmon contains other nutrients that can improve hair health, such as marine collagen, omega-3s, and zinc, according to registered nutritionist Frances Largeman-Roth, who spoke with the magazine.

“We need to eat an adequate amount of protein in our diet to encourage good hair growth because hair is formed of protein, primarily keratin,” she said.

Additionally, Largeman-Roth recommended eating wild sockeye salmon twice a week, as it is the option with the highest vitamin-D content. Wild sockeye salmon is normally obtained sustainably in Alaska.

Naturally, salmon has been identified as a superfood for purposes other than maintaining good hair. Salmon is an essential component of the Mediterranean diet, which was just voted the world’s greatest diet overall. Its many health advantages go beyond only improving hair; they also include preventing heart disease, cancer, and dementia.

According to a different study, consuming just two servings of fish, such as salmon, can also undo the harm that junk food has done to the body.

But there were other superfoods on their list than salmon. For hair health, almonds, walnuts, eggs, citrus fruits, skin-on chicken, and legumes were also considered.
